Reported Speech. Вправи для початківців

Почнемо з відносно простих вправ на Reported Speech в теперішньому часі. Ви будете переводити стверджувальні і питальні речення. Згадайте Правила 1-4.

Переклад речень в непряму мова в теперішньому часі

Вправа 1. Переведіть ствердні пропозиції в непряму мову.

Переклад речень в непряму мова у минулому часі

Тепер переходимо до більш складного рівня — переведення в непряму мова пропозицій в минулому часі. Ви пам’ятаєте правило 5 на узгодження часів? Перш ніж приступити до виконання вправ, розглянемо, чи є узгодження часів у російській мові.

Отже, узгодження часів в реченні – це підпорядкування часу підрядного речення часу головному.

ПРИКЛАДИ узгодження часів в англійській мові

1.Не lives in New York. – Він живе в Нью Йорку.
I knew that he lived in New York. – Я знав, що він живе в Нью Йорку.

2.Mother is sleeping. – Мама спить.
I thought that mother was sleeping. – Я думав, що моя мама спить.

3.He bought a new car. – Він купив нову машину.
I heard that he had bought a new car. – Я чув, що він купив нову машину.

Отже, узгодження часів — це граматичне явище, властиве тільки англійської мови та правила узгодження часів застосовуються тільки, якщо головне речення стоїть в минулому часі. Але це буває часто! Не забувайте про узгодження часів, виконуючи вправи на Reported Speechнижче.

Вправа 4. Переведіть пропозиції на російську мову, звертаючи увагу на вживання часів у російській та англійській мовах.

1. We did not know where our friends went every evening.
2. We did not know where our friends had gone.
3. She said that her best friend was a doctor.
4. She said that her best friend had been a doctor.
5. I didn’t know that you worked at the museum.
6. I didn’t know that you had worked at the museum.
7. I knew that you were ill.
8. I knew that you had been ill.
9. We found out that she left home at eight o’clock every morning.
10. We found out that she had left home at eight o’clock that morning.

Переклад стверджувальних речень в непряму мова (Reporting Statements)

Вправа 5. Змініть речення за зразком, використовуючи непряму мова.

Зразок: It is a nice place to go. — He said (that) it was a nice place to go.

1. The fish is very good. 2. I’ll have a chicken. 3. The chicken is not properly cooked. 4. I’m very sorry. 5. I’ll get you another book. 6. We come here quite often. 7. Вправа 6. Перепишіть наступні речення в минулому часі. Застосуйте правило 5, тобто узгодьте час головного і підрядного речення.

1. My uncle says that he has just come back from Cyprus. 2. He says that he has spent a fortnight (two weeks) in Cyprus. 3. He says that it did him a lot of good. 4. He says that he has got a good tan. 5. He says that his wife and he spent most of their time on the beach. 6. He says that they did a lot of sightseeing. 7. He that says he has a good camera. 8. He says that he took a lot of photos while travelling in Cyprus. 9. He says that he will come to see there again. 10. Вправа 7. Перепишіть наступні речення в минулому часі. Зверніть увагу на залежність часу підрядного додаткового речення від часу головного (взято з підручника Ю. В. Голіцинського).

1. Mike says he is sure Ann and Kate will be excellent guides. 2. He says they have made good progress in English. 3. Oleg says that some English students will come to pay a visit to their school and he will probably have to act as an interpreter. 4. Ann says she has just met Boris in the street. 5. She says Boris told her a lot of interesting things about his travels in the South. 6. Nick says he is going to the hotel to see his friends who have just arrived in St Petersburg from the United States of America. 7. He says they have not been in their beloved city for a long time. 8.
